What is Kidventure Korner?
Our Curriculum is a balance of Circle time, Visual Arts, Centers/ Free Play, Dance, Music and Drama.
Our A-B-C (Arts Based Curriculum) combines preschool academic learning with dance, music, theatre and visual arts to enhance learning that will improve cognitive, physical and social development.
An Arts Based Curriculum can help prepare children for the classroom by stimulating the imagination and developing cognitive and creative skills. It can also strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as well as goal-setting. Arts Based learning helps to develop an understanding of important concepts such as relationships between space and time, form and structure and the life cycle. It enhances sensory learning, as well as perceptual and physical experiences through visual arts, storytelling, dance, music and drama.
About our A-B-C Program (Arts Based Curriculum)
Each day will consist of a variety of activities specifically planned to develop your childs’ learning potential.
Circle Time Our day begins with Greetings and Group learning during Circle time. We will focus on calendar activities, weather and numeracy activities. We will also focus on activities to experience letters and sounds in a variety of fun ways that helps tap into the diversity in student learning patterns.
Visual Art – We will engage in daily arts and crafts to enhance cognitive development in young children while strengthening hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Students will learn colour, shape and pattern recognition and will be given the opportunity to create individual and group projects. They will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials and media, including paper, glue, paints, collage and printmaking.
Centers/ Free Play – Each day will consist of Centers and Free Play. We believe that play is the best way for young children to learn! In our classroom, they are given time each day for free exploration, experimentation and observation.
DANCE – Dance is a joyful way to develop large motor skills, coordination, spatial awareness, fitness, balance and self expression. Students will be introduced to creative movement using games and various props! Our dance component will be based on the ADAPT, CDTA and ACROBATIC ARTS & ADTA syllabi.
MUSIC – Students will have fun singing and developing a vocal foundation while also working with rhythm, musicality and exploring hand instruments and percussion.
Drama – The drama component will help build confidence through fun and exploration. Our program helps foster imagination, language development, social skills and expressiveness. The children will develop their creative expression through roleplay, puppetry, storytelling, dress up, mime, rhymes and more.
Meet Our Faculty
Chantal Leaman – Early Years Elementary Teacher
Chantal Leaman (B.Ed) trained as a dancer at Dance Images completing all of her dance exams in ADAPT (Jazz and Tap) and CDTA (Ballet). She earned an education degree specializing in early childhood development and has taught in the classroom.
Chantal is very excited to combine her love of the arts with early childhood education in our Kidventure Korner Fine Arts PreSchool Program! She will guide our students to create and explore as she works with them to build a successful academic foundation. Through our Kidventure Korner PreSchool program, our students will successfully move into Kindergarten with the skills to help them develop their voice as creative individuals.
Shauna Bzdel – Director/ Owner of Dance Images, Dance Instructor
Shauna Bzdel holds her ECE Diploma (Early Childhood Education) and has specialized in working with children with special needs. After working in the school system and teaching dancing for many years, she decided to pursue teaching dance full-time and has taught at Dance Images for over 20 years. Shauna is a certified instructor of ADAPT (Tap & Jazz), CDTA (Ballet & Modern), Acrobatic Arts, PBT and Muv Method. She is very excited to bring her knowledge and experience working with children to our Kidventure Korner PreSchool program.
Barb Jackman – Dance Images Founder/ Previous Owner/ Director
Barb Jackman owned and operated Dance Images for over 30 years. She is the founder of Dance Images and Kidventure Korner Fine Arts PreSchool. Kidventure Korner has been a conception and passion of hers for several years. With lots of careful planning and choosing the right staff she is excited to support/ mentor this branch at Dance Images.

STUDENT / TEACHER RATIO – Our ratio is 10:1 with a maximum of 20 students per program, with one teacher and one assistant with the children at all times.
SCHOOL SNACKS – We will have a daily snack time, and several hydration breaks. We encourage you to send a healthy, nut-free snack for your child and a water bottle with your child’s name on it.
POTTY-TRAINED – Children must be potty-trained (no pull ups) to attend preschool. We do know that sometimes accidents happen, so we ask that you provide an extra set of clothes for your child.
MEDICAL INFORMATION – To allow us to create the best possible program for our students, please provide us with any medical information that will help us best care for your child. This includes allergies and any identified physical or learning challenges. All information will be kept in confidence.
SOCIAL MEDIA + PHOTOGRAPHY – Parents/guardians will be asked to sign a permission form with regard to the use of their child’s images on social media and/or in advertising. At no time ever will children’s names or personal information be shared on a public platform.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES + ATTIRE – Students should wear comfortable, fitted non-restrictive clothing to school. For our dance component Ballet shoes are encouraged.
FEES + WITHDRAWAL
Please note that fees are due on the 1st of each month. The monthly cost is averaged, so it is the same regardless of number of classes in any given month.
Please note the $50.00 registration/material fee is non-refundable.
If for some reason you choose to withdraw, we require a minimum of two weeks’ notice, and you will not be refunded for the month you are currently in. Withdrawals must be received in writing to Dance Images.
